Not all leaflet distribution companies provide the same service. Protect yourself!
There is a common misconception that all leaflet distribution companies essentially perform the same job and opting for the cheapest quote is best. The reality is, the quality of service from one leaflet distribution company to another varies enormously and if you want a good return on your investment you need to choose wisely.
Why is one leaflet distribution company not as good as another?
One one hand, you have some companies that will provide an excellent service that will bring you great returns. They are responsible, reliable, hard working, professional and trustworthy. On the other hand, you have companies who are only interested in your money and discard the majority of your leaflets or companies who simply do not charge their customers enough to be able to do the job properly. As a result, no matter how cheap the latter distribution company is, they will not be worth your time or money and may also harm your company's reputation and image. I have a client who had an angry resident dump a box of discarded leaflets on their shop floor in front of their clients. The box of leaflets had been dumped in his garden and of course the company the leaflets belonged to was blamed rather than the leaflet distributors they had commissioned to do the job.
If possible choose a local distribution firm
Be aware of ‘national’ leaflet distribution companies who outsource to smaller companies (this obscure piece is usually in their terms and conditions in very small print). Where possible try to use a leaflet distribution company local to your area. They will know the area better and will also be keen to do a good job to increase local word of mouth.
How to choose a leaflet distribution company
If you're thinking about using leaflet distribution to promote your company, my advice is to protect yourself and your money by researching and questioning your leaflet distribution company carefully. Always determine who is actually distributing your leaflets and don't go for the cheapest option if you want a good return on your investment. Ask for testimonials and references and thoroughly check any distribution company before approaching them to carry out a leaflet drop.
